Sweeping romance. Sumptuous settings. Unforgettable adventure.

THE WHITE PEARL Shortlisted!

A bright New Year – and it has kicked off with wonderful news for me. My book THE WHITE PEARL has been shortlisted for a prestigious RoNA Award. I am thrilled!

The RNA does a fabulous job of raising the profile of authors and there is always intense competition for one of its elegant crystal trophies. There are six categories:- Contemporary, Comedy, Epic, Historical, Young Adult and Short romance. THE WHITE PEARL is up for the Historical Award against an array of fantastic writers. I am honoured and delighted to be in the company of such an impressive shortlist. Congratulations to them all.

The fun starts on 26 February when we will all gather in the sumptuous setting of the RAF Club in London, where Richard and Judy – to whom the book-world owes a real debt of gratitude for making reading cool – will host the event and present the awards. Lots of wine and laughter. Loads of killer heels. Publishers looking proud, authors preening feathers. Can’t wait. Time to break out the party frock!

Is The White Pearl the folow on book from Under a Blood Red Sky?

  6. KateFurnivall says:

No, it isn’t. The White Pearl is set in Malaya 1941, totally unrelated to Under a Blood Red Sky in which the story takes place in Russia. The only three books that make up a trilogy are The Russian Concubine, The Concubine’s Secret and The Jewel of St Petersburg. I have often considered writing a sequel to Under a Blood Red Sky because I loved the characters and would like to continue their journey, but as yet it hasn’t happened. One day ….

I have read all of your books and enjoyed each one very much.  I just finished the White Pearl and it was totally awesome!  I couldn’t put it down and with such detail and great descriptions I was right there in the jungle!
Congratulations on a great book and I hope you win your award..you deserve it~

Thanks, Ruth. Great to hear your comments – I am delighted to know you really got into jungle life! I so loved writing that book. I hope you also enjoy my next book – SHADOWS ON THE NILE – just as much, when it whisks you away into the scorching deserts of Egypt.
