About the Book

Malaya, 1941. As the glamorous wife of a plantation owner, Connie Hadley appears to lead a pampered and comfortable life. But she is hiding devastating secrets that could destroy her marriage.

Life is changed for ever on the day of the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor. As Japanese Zero aircraft attack the town of Palur, Connie takes the decision to flee to Singapore on the family’s boat, The White Pearl. She sails with her husband and son, three friends and an enigmatic boat dealer Fitzpayne, who is the only one who can navigate the islands of the South China Sea.

In desperation, short of food and constantly in danger, fear strips away good manners; tensions arise on the yacht and anger causes deadly divisions between friends . . .

So sad that its not in America :( I’m a fan of the author and loved reading Concubine series and would have loved to read The White Pearl.

Do not despair! l The White Pearl will be published in the US on March 6th. I’m delighted to hear you liked the Concubine series and I hope you enjoy this one too. It’s a total change of scene but still a powerful story with strong characters. Thanks for being my first first post on my new website!

Fantastic. I hope you enjoy the change of scene – a hot and steamy world instead of the ice and snow of Russia. Writing this book put my head in a totally different place in every respect which was a revealing experience. Happy reading!

  7. Started reading it. Love it so far. I am new to your following…gotta get your other books for my Kindle.

  8. KateFurnivall says:

eBooks are brilliant at making books accessible at the touch of a button and I hope it will open up a huge new market for authors – particularly among the younger section. But I still love to hold a physical book in my hand and get the visceral pleasure of turning those pages. If you’re reading my other books, read The Jewel of St Petersburg first, then The Russian Concubine, then The Concubine’s Secret (called The Girl from Junchow in the US), as they make up a trilogy. Under a Blood Red Sky (called The Girl from Junchow in the US) stands alone.

  9. Alison Campbell says:

Sounds like an excellent read. Thank you
